WW2 Medals & W.A.A.F. Service & Release Book – RAF Bletchley
The War Medal and 1939-1945 Star together with the accompanying service book belonged to a Corporal Doris Irene Allen.
The service book confirms that Corporal Allen served in the W.A.A.F from 14.12.1942 until her release on 24.5.1946.
Interestingly, the service book confirms that Corporal Allen was stationed for at least her last eight months of service at RAF Bletchley where she was involved in “typing statistical returns of a complex nature”.
The book includes a stamp from RAF Bletchley and a report from her commanding officer in regard to her duties and her good conduct and efficiency.
The medals and book also come with a small photograph of Corporal Allen in uniform.
Further information in regard to Corporal Allen may be found by researching her war records or by visiting Bletchley Park in order to discover whether her name is to be added to the roll of honour of those who conducted the vital and secretive work at Station X during WW2.
